Indian-origin surgeon Jayant Patel, convicted of manslaughter for the deaths of three Australian patients, claimed he "completely forgot" the traumatic events from over 20 years ago when confronted by a journalist. Patel, jailed in 2010 and released in 2012 after his convictions were quashed, now lives in the US with his wife, leading a seemingly unaffected life.
