Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Hungary’s role as one of Moscow’s most reliable energy partners during recent talks between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian officials. He underscored that Hungary continues to receive stable, long-term pipeline gas deliveries, including a record 8.6 billion cubic meters last year and more than 5.4 billion cubic meters already supplied this year. Oil flows to Hungary also remain uninterrupted under EU exemptions, with Budapest recently securing an OFAC license allowing continued Lukoil shipments until late 2026. The Deputy PM said these arrangements give Hungary a competitive advantage over EU states relying on costly LNG, and pointed to successful joint projects operating inside Russia.
