Common behavioural problems in cats

Noticing strange or aggressive behaviour in your cat? Here’s what could be causing it.

According to the MSD Veterinary Manual, some cats may hiss, scratch or bite when touched. This often happens if they weren’t handled good enough as kittens.

Some cats are simply born more anxious or aggressive. They may be fine with their owner, but not with strangers.

Does your cat scratch or bite when you try to move or stop it? This could be “leave-me-alone” aggression.

Cats may fight each other over sleeping spots, food, or fear. Try separating them and giving each cat their own space.

A cat that sprays leaves a small stream of urine while standing. It’s a sign of stress, territory marking, or behavioural issues.

Some cats become overly sensitive. They might bite themselves, cry, or dash off suddenly.

Many cats groom too much or chew on fabrics, plastic, or string. This may be caused by stress, anxiety, or boredom.
