Remembering Ratan Tata, the man who shaped India’s business and inspired the world, on his first death anniversary.

From factory floors in Jamshedpur to Mumbai boardrooms and campuses around the world, Ratan Tata left an unforgettable mark.

Born on 28 December 1937, Ratan Tata hailed from one of India’s most famous industrial families.

Raised by his grandmother, Lady Navajbai Tata, he grew up in Mumbai.

Educated at Cornell University in architecture and later at Harvard Business School, he was reserved and thoughtful.

In 1962, he joined Tata Steel in Jamshedpur.

Within a decade, he transformed the Tata Group into a cohesive, professionally governed entity.
