A man was killed in a police shootout in New York City after he threatened civilians with a firearm and declared intentions to shoot up a hospital. He initially pointed a gun at a man in a Manhattan elevator and a deli worker. Upon police arrival, he fired at officers, who returned fire, resulting in his death.
