Well as the latest report suggests, Suryakumar Yadav might be up for a call in the ODIS. He was a part of the set-up earlier and also played the 2023 ODI WC final. However, he failed to perform and hence was not considered for the format. Given his recent form with the bat, this seems to be a surprise call and it will be interesting to see if he really gets a place in the side.

Well, there were not much doubts about Suryakumar Yadav retaining his captaincy in the T20I format. As the latest report from Indian Express suggests, he will be leading the side in the T20Is that are to be played in Australia. Even though, SKY did not have the best of times with the bat in the recently concluded Asia Cup, his leadership earned the praise from the experts and fans. So, BCCI seemingly is allowing him to gain his batting form back while staying at the helm of things in the shortest format of international cricket.

Well the reports do say that Rohit might not continue as the captain of the ODI team. But the place of both Kohli and Rohit is ensured in the side for the Australia tour.

If the reports are to be believed, we might have seen the last of Rohit Sharma leading the Indian team in ODIs. Notably, this would mean that he finishes his stint at the helm as the most successful ODI skipper for the nation. Rohit Sharma has a win percentage of 75% in the format, the highest for any captain who has led India in more than 50 matches.

While reports earlier suggested that Rohit Sharma would retain his ODI captaincy, recent report from the Indian express updates that there is a chance of change in the role. As per the report, the current Test captain of the Indian team, Shubman Gill will handed over the role in the ODI format too.

This seems a surprise development. Given the fact that India were going with split captaincy. However, it now seems like BCCI are thinking about the future and as a result want a young captain to take over. With about two years left for the next ODI World Cup, it would give Gill the time to settle himself in the role and form a squad that presents a tough challenge for the title.

On the other hand Nitish Reddy looked good with the ball in the few overs he bowled in the ongoing match. While Shreyas Iyer has decided to take rest from red-ball cricket, he is avaialble for selection for the ODI series. Given his performance in the Champions Trophy, Iyer is a crucial part of the Indian batting line-up. Especially his consistency and ability to play big knocks makes him an important part of India's plans for the 2027 ODI WC.
