Assembly Elections 2023 highlights: PM Modi holds roadshow in Hyderabad

The assets of 103 MLAs contesting again in the assembly elections in Telangana increased by an average of 65% between 2018 and 2023, according to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the Telangana Election Watch on Sunday.

“Of the 103 re-contesting MLAs, assets of 90 MLAs (87%) have increased ranging from 3% to 1331% and assets of 13 MLAs (13%) have decreased ranging from 1% to 79%,” the report stated. Read further.

Telangana's BJP unit chief G Kishan Reddy is promising that his party will rename Hyderabad as ‘Bhagyanagar’ if it comes to power in the state.

“Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath and Himanta Biswa Sarma have already said that once we come to power, we will rename Hyderabad. Madras was renamed to Chennai, Calcutta was renamed to Kolkata, Bombay was renamed to Mumbai and we renamed Rajpath to Kartavya Path,” Reddy tells ANI. More details.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is addressing a public rally in Telangana's Bhongir, according to ANI.

"The aim of both BRS and BJP is to remain in power and increase their wealth. You have to show them that the people of Telangana will not surrender for money and they will fight for their rights as they have been doing it," Vadra says.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), claiming that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi was making an effort to strike a friendship with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“KCR realised the increasing power of BJP much earlier. For a long time, he was making an effort to strike a friendship with the BJP. The Election Commission of India has ordered the Telangana government to stop all the disbursements under the state government's Rythu Bandhu Scheme after a violation of the model codes of conduct.

The Rythu Bandhu scheme is also known as the Farmer's Investment Support Scheme (FISS), and is a welfare programme for farmers started by the Telangana government in 2018. Know more about the scheme here.
