The opening match of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 saw bowlers making an immediate impact, with Afghanistan’s Gulbadin Naib and Fazalhaq Farooqi leading the wicket charts. Both pacers picked up two wickets each in their three-over spells, setting the tone for Afghanistan’s strong start in the tournament. Naib was particularly impressive, returning figures of 2/8 at an outstanding economy of just 2.66, while Farooqi struck with key breakthroughs, conceding only 16 runs at an economy of 5.33.

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan and India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya both have 11 wickets each. Rashid, known for his control and variations, has an economy of 6.51 across eight matches, while Pandya delivered memorable spells with best figures of 3/8.
