The CBDT chairman announced delays in income tax refunds for FY 2024-2025, with low-value refunds being processed and remaining refunds expected by December. The delays stem from the analysis of wrongful deductions, with a noted 18% drop in refund issuances. The department is also working to expedite appeal resolutions under the upcoming simplified Income Tax Act, 2025.
