Panic after private schools in Amritsar get bomb threat emails; holiday declared
The administration ordered closure of all government and private schools in the city for the day while the cyber police is tracking the source of the emails.

Police and bomb disposal squads are currently conducting thorough searches of the premises, and the authorities have ordered all schools to close for the day.
Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar urged the public not to panic, suggesting that the threats may be a hoax, similar to past incidents that were traced back to students. He said that the threats might be a “mischievous act” as similar incidents in 2022 and July 2025 were found to be non-credible.
School managements immediately informed parents to pick up their children.

The district education officer on the orders from the deputy commissioner directed all government and private schools in the city to close down for the day.
