The Centre informed the Punjab and Haryana high court that the Punjab government opposes raising the retirement age of Panjab University teachers from 60 to 65 years. Additional Solicitor General Satya Pal Jain stated that the Government of India requires more time to consult stakeholders, citing financial considerations. The case will be reviewed again on January 21.
