Maharashtra will soon begin administering the Gardasil HPV vaccine to girls aged 14 and under to combat cervical cancer, with 9.50 lakh doses already received. Health staff training is complete, and the vaccination program was expedited following state health minister Prakash Abitkar's advocacy. Cervical cancer, a leading cause of death among women in India, is preventable with early detection.
