Kamal Haasan’s Tik Tik Tik co-star Radha Nair recalls struggle behind wearing a bikini on sets of film

Radha Nair recalled the struggle of wearing a bikini on the sets of her film Tik Tik Tik. The film also starred Kamal Haasan, Swapna and Madhavi.

Actor Radha Nair shared a memory from the sets of Kamal Haasan’s Tamil film Tik Tik Tik. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, she recalled the time on the set when she along with her co-stars Swapna and Madhavi wore bikinis. She said that back then it would have felt like part of the job. Directed by Bharathiraja, Tik Tik Tik was a crime thriller which released in 1981. It was one of the first Tamil films to feature a bikini scene. In her post, Radha showered praises on co-star Madhavi for donning a bikini effortlessly.

Sharing a still from the film, Radha tweeted, “This is one of my favourite memory from the days of shoot for movie tik tik tik. Back then it might have looked part of job but now if I look back I admire the struggle and strength we have put in to look so, and special admiration goes to Madhavi who has that effortless look on her face along with right posture.”

She also added, "Hats off to her to be able to work on attitude along with her body. Some memories if remembered now has many unspoken thoughts which I am sharing here today. And I am glad we were in right hands then for these beautiful outfits on us by our designer Vani Ganapathy."

Tik Tik Tik was remade in Hindi as Karishmaa (1984) also starring Kamal Haasan. The Hindi remake was directed by IV Sasi and also stars Reena Roy, Tina Munim, Danny Denzongpa, Swaroop Sampat, Jagdeep, and Sarika among others.

Radha made her acting debut with the 1981 Tamil film Alaigal Oivathillai, which was a hit. In the same year, she worked alongside Kamal Haasan in Tik Tik Tik and subsequently in other films such as Thoongadhey Thambi Thoongadhey, Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, Japanil Kalyanaraman, and Kadhal Parisu.

Having predominantly worked in Tamil films, Radha also acted in other languages such as Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Her last on-screen appearance was in the 1991 Tamil film Shanti Enathu Shanti.

Radha stopped acting after she got married to a hotelier in 1991. She has two daughters and a son. Both her daughters – Karthika and Thulasi – briefly worked in a few films.
