5 arrested for supplying cough syrup by creating fake pharma companies in UP's Varanasi

Police in Varanasi arrested five individuals for illegally supplying codeine-laced cough syrup through fake pharmaceutical companies using forged documents. Investigations revealed fraudulent transactions totaling Rs 23 crore across five shell companies. The operation, linked to kingpins Shubham and Divesh Jaiswal, involved cross-border trafficking. Authorities are seizing assets worth Rs 38 crore tied to Shubham Jaiswal.
