The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) achieved a significant victory in Kerala's local body polls, winning over 500 of 941 grama panchayats amid strong anti-incumbency sentiments against the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Analysts attributed the UDF's success to minority vote consolidation and dissatisfaction with the ruling government, particularly over the Sabarimala gold theft scandal and communal tensions.
