AP to enact law to bring varsities under one body
The Andhra Pradesh government plans to unify the state's 32 universities under a single legislative framework to standardize governance, administration, and academic practices. A draft bill, prepared by a state higher education committee, will be introduced in the upcoming winter assembly session. The reform includes replacing the Executive Council with a Board of Governors and setting an age limit for vice-chancellors. Currently, universities operate under separate acts, prompting the need for this comprehensive law to enhance consistency and collaboration with industry.
