Bihar: Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahani's father Jitan Sahani murdered in Darbhanga
Jitan Sahani's body was found in his ancestral house on Tuesday morning, reports claimed. Darbhanga SSP Jagannath Reddy has confirmed the incident.
Vikassheel Insaan Party president and former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani's father Jitan Sahani was murdered in his house in Darbhanga's Supaul Bazaar area.
Jitan Sahani's body was found in his ancestral house on Tuesday morning, reports claimed. Darbhanga SSP Jagannath Reddy has confirmed the incident. Police has reached the spot and started investigation. Jitan Sahani's house is in Afjala Panchayat of Supaul Bazar in Darbhanga.
According to a report, Jitan Sahani was brutally murdered at home with a sharp weapon. After receiving the news of his father's murder, Mukesh Sahani is leaving for Patna from Mumbai.
JDU's chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar has said the culprit will be to justice and strict action will be action .
VIP party leader Dev Jyoti said the party received information about the incident a while ago. Mukesh Sahani will reach Patna in a short while, Dev Jyoti said. “We are still unable to find out why our leader's father was killed. We are trying to get information. Our leader will reach Patna in a short while and after that he will reach Darbhanga,” the VIP leader said.
There is anger among RJD leaders after the murder, withe former chairman of Bihar minority welfare commission Riazul Ul Haq Raju strongly condeming the incident. He has demanded the arrest the murderers within 24 hours. He has warned of agitation from the streets to the House if the killers are not arrested.
RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav accused the Nitish Kumar government of being in a state of limbo and said that the CM might not even know what was going on.
"What is going on in Bihar? No day goes by without a murder... The Chief Minister is in an unconscious state of mind. He might not even know by now that something has happened in the state. No political leader is safe in Bihar... The system has collapsed. Bihar is at the mercy of gods," said Shakti Yadav the spokesperson of the RJD.
RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari accused the BJP JDU government of running a 'Jungle-Raaj' and demanded answers from the state government.
"Former Bihar Minister Mukesh Sahani's father has been brutally murdered. This is extremely unfortunate... If the families of leaders are not safe in Bihar, it clearly means that the common man is at the mercy of god... Why are BJP and NDA leaders quiet on this? They should come out and speak up. This is 'maha-jungleraaj'," Tiwari told ANI.
Representatives of the state government accused the opposition of playing politics and said that an investigation was being carried out.
"The way VIP Chief Mukesh Sahani's father has been murdered is unfortunate, brutal and painful... The police will find out the accused... We have faith in the police investigation and we urge Tejashwi Yadav to come forward if he knows the accused in any way or if he has any information whatsoever, he should cooperate with the police to ensure justice for Mukesh Sahani's family." said JDU Leader Neeraj Kumar
Union ministers Ramnath Thakur and Giriraj Singh assured that the investigation was on and the guilty would be brought to justice.
"The state government will take action against the accused after investigation...The accused will be certainly caught and punished under Nitish Kumar govt," Ramnath Thakur said.
Union Minister & BJP MP Giriraj Singh said, "The accused will not be spared. The State government is taking the matter seriously."
Who is Mukesh Sahani?
- Mukesh Sahani is the head of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) in Bihar. His party had joined the Opposition's INDIA block before the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The agreement was originally made between Mukesh Sahani and Rashtriya Janata Dal in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
- Mukesh Sahani is known as 'Son of Mallah'. The population of Mallahs in Bihar is about seven per cent.
- Before the Lok Sabha elections, a video of Mukesh Sahani with Tejashwi RJD leader Yadav had gone viral. In the video, both of them were seen eating fish in a helicopter, during Navratri, triggering a huge political row.
