A senior Congress leader, Patil had an illustrious political career, serving as the 10th Speaker of the Lok Sabha and holding multiple ministerial roles. He also served as Governor of Punjab and was instrumental in establishing the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award. Patil began his political journey in 1980 and remained an influential figure in Maharashtra and national politics for over four decades.
