The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that a depression in the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm, Montha, by October 26. Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are on high alert for heavy rainfall and strong winds as the storm approaches landfall near Kakinada on October 28. Disaster management teams are prepared for emergency response.
