Eight Bangladeshi nationals convicted for illegal stay in India

A Kalyan court sentenced eight Bangladeshi nationals to nine months' rigorous imprisonment for illegal residency in Thane district. The court recognized their guilty pleas but considered their poverty and illiteracy in sentencing. Arrested in April 2025, they were fined Rs 1,000 each under immigration laws. The case against one absconding accused is still pending.
