HAL inks $1-billion fighter engine deal with GE

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a $1 billion deal with GE Aerospace for 113 F404-IN20 engines to power 97 additional LCA Mk-1A aircraft, enhancing the Indian Air Force's capabilities. Deliveries are set between 2027 and 2032, following a previous order for 83 jets. The IAF, facing a fighter jet shortage, aims for self-reliance in jet engine production.
