India protested to China after Arunachal Pradesh resident Prema Wangjom Thongdok was detained for over 18 hours at Shanghai airport on November 21, with officials claiming her Indian passport was invalid. Thongdok, traveling to Japan, faced humiliation and was only released after Indian officials intervened. India maintains Arunachal Pradesh is integral to its territory, rejecting China's claims.
