India will chair the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) in 2026, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, focusing on “Democracy for an inclusive, peaceful, resilient and sustainable world.” India, with over 900 million voters, aims to share its electoral experience and enhance global democratic processes. International IDEA includes 35 member states and two observers.
