The Indian Railways will increase long-distance fare tariffs effective December 26, citing rising manpower costs and aiming to generate an additional ₹600 crore in revenue. The fare hike will see increases of 2 paise per kilometer for mail, express, and AC classes, while ordinary class fares will rise by 1 paise beyond 215 kilometers, exempting suburban services and MST holders.
