Mating of Olive Ridley turtles begins in Odisha, security beefed up

The mating season for Olive Ridley turtles has commenced at Odisha's Rushikulya river mouth, prompting increased patrols to deter poachers. Many turtle pairs have been sighted, with nesting expected to begin after mating concludes in late December. Last year, over 9.04 lakh turtles nested in the area. Fishing bans are enforced to protect these turtles during their critical breeding period.
