Mizoram consumer panel orders state govt to pay <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>52.20 lakh compensation for maternity death

The Mizoram State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ordered the state government to pay Rs 52.20 lakh to the family of Malsawmkimi, who died from alleged medical negligence after childbirth in 2021. The commission found the hospital guilty of serious lapses, including inadequate care and the use of substitute staff. Malsawmkimi had a history of miscarriages and should have undergone a cesarean section.
