A Parliamentary panel has recommended that the University Grants Commission recognize the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives (HIAL) for its exemplary work under the National Education Policy 2020. Founded by Sonam Wangchuk, currently detained under the National Security Act, HIAL has garnered international acclaim for its community-focused educational initiatives. The panel urged the UGC to expedite recognition.
