A 24-year-old student from Tripura, Angel Chakma, died after sustaining critical injuries in an alleged racist canteen attack in Dehradun on December 9. Following his death, police added murder charges against five apprehended suspects. Witnesses reported that Angel defended his identity before being violently attacked with a sharp object. The incident has sparked outrage and an ongoing investigation.
