Dissociation is the state where we feel that we are disconnected from our emotions. We also feel disconnected from our physical state and have difficulties in understanding how we are feeling. "Sometimes when you’ve experienced trauma, chronic stress or other overwhelming emotions it no longer feels like your body is a safe place to be. And while some people find they become hypervigilant and hypersensitive to their bodies, others enter more of a freeze state and experience disconnection, dissociation and faulty interoception," wrote Therapist Rebekah Ballagh.
