Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of France Unbowed, held a rally in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps on Sunday, addressing issues including Palestine, climate change, poverty, and Donald Trump’s tariffs, in what appeared to be a hint at a 2027 pre-election campaign launch. Meanwhile, Thomas Delplace, mayoral candidate for Saint-Pierre-des-Corps for LFI in next year's municipal elections opened the meeting by expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and condemning Israel for bombing Gaza despite the ceasefire. Criticising President Emmanuel Macron’s economic policies, Melenchon said a quarter of the French population has been forced to forgo medical care, while 25,000 people had been evicted from their homes due to the government’s housing policies.
