The European Union is vowing to keep backing Ukraine with money, weapons and diplomacy even as US‑led peace talks advance and Washington’s original 28‑point plan is being rewritten. EU Council President Antonio Costa and Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, speaking from Luanda after an informal leaders’ meeting on Ukraine, said a “strong European presence” in the Geneva talks has created a “solid basis” for moving forward, but stressed that any final deal must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and involve the EU fully on sanctions and frozen Russian assets.
