Russia uses UN state to shred US for dragging world into new arms race beyond earth’s atmosphere

Speaking before a UNGA vote, Russian Deputy Foreign Ministry official Konstantin Vorontsov reaffirmed Moscow’s call for legally binding multilateral agreements to prevent the weaponization of outer space. Russia introduced three draft resolutions—on further practical PAROS measures, transparency and confidence-building, and a “no first placement of weapons” pledge—urging all members to support keeping space free from arms and conflict. Moscow described the new rounds of open-ended UN working groups and panel discussions on space security, warned against the emergence of an arms race, and regretted the breakdown of consensus on traditionally non-controversial space disarmament resolutions.
