NSW Premier Chris Minns and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirm that 16 people have been killed and 42 injured in a terror attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, calling it an act of “pure evil,” antisemitism and terrorism aimed at the Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah. Declaring a joint counterterrorism operation, NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon says investigators are not seeking further suspects and have identified the two attackers as a father‑and‑son pair, one dead and one critically wounded, while Albanese vows to deploy “every single resource” to support victims, protect the community and stamp out antisemitism.
