Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China–US relations “remain stable” following a recent trade truce, emphasizing Beijing’s commitment to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. Responding to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s remarks calling China “unreliable,” Mao reaffirmed that Taiwan’s participation in APEC depends on adherence to the One-China principle. She also urged countries to avoid politicising trade and maintain fair competition for global businesses. Her comments came as the EU launched an investigation into Hong Kong-listed MMG’s $500 million bid for Anglo American’s nickel assets in Brazil, citing concerns over China’s mineral dominance.
