During a visit to Seoul, U.S. Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Washington’s active support for South Korea’s plan to develop a nuclear-powered submarine by the mid-to-late 2030s. The announcement followed the 57th US–Republic of Korea Security Consultative Meeting, attended by Hegseth and South Korean Defence Minister Ahn Gyu‑baek at the Defence Ministry in Yongsan.
