Trump sparks backlash after claiming tariffs averted 'Pakistan-Iran war'

U.S. President Donald Trump, in remarks on October 15, sparked backlash after claiming his tariff policy prevented a “war” between Pakistan and Iran. While praising his trade approach, Trump mistakenly referred to Iran as a “nuclear-powered nation” and said his tariff threats compelled countries to “negotiate differently.” The comments, which went viral, revived debate over past moments when Trump claimed credit for peace efforts in South Asia. India, meanwhile, reiterated that its 2021 ceasefire with Pakistan was achieved bilaterally, denying any U.S. mediation or involvement.
