‘Gathered plant tubs, barricaded rooftop entry’: Bangladesh journalists recall night of horrific arson

Overnight unrest in Bangladesh erupted after the death of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi, leading to widespread protests and attacks on media offices, notably Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, amid accusations of ties to India. Hadi was shot during an election campaign and later died in Singapore. Security forces failed to disperse aggressive crowds targeting journalists and media buildings.
