Bangladesh's student-led National Citizen Party split over alliance with Jamaat ahead of national polls
The National Citizen Party (NCP), formed during last year's July Uprising that ousted former Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina, is facing internal divisions over potential alliances with Jamaat-e-Islami for the upcoming February elections. Prominent leader Tasneem Jara has decided to run independently, while others, like Samanta Sharmin, oppose the alliance, citing conflicting ideologies.
