Myanmar's military-backed party claims landslide victory; UN slams ‘sham' elections
The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) in Myanmar has declared a landslide victory, winning 82 out of 102 lower house seats in the first phase of elections, which critics deem unfair and lacking legitimacy. These elections are the first since the military coup in 2021, after which Aung San Suu Kyi's party was dissolved.
