Thailand sees its first annual drop in tourists in a decade. Here is why

Thailand experienced its first decline in tourist arrivals in 2025, with numbers dropping to 33 million, a 7.2% decrease, attributed to events like the abduction of actor Wang Xing and natural disasters. Malaysians were the top visitors, while overall tourism revenue fell to 2.7 trillion baht. The Tourism Authority aims for 36.7 million visitors in 2026.
