Itch.io DDoS Attack
Saturday's outage follows a major DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack earlier in the week, which caused several hours of downtime and widespread frustration among both developers and players on the platform.
"Sorry everyone, it appears we're currently under a DDOS attack and our host, Linode, put a networking restriction on our main web server, meaning it isn't publicly available. We've reached out to them for more information. Hope to have an update soon," Itch.io confirmed in an official statement posted on Bluesky.
"The site should be accessible again. Unfortunately our host's DDOS "protection" is to just turn off our site. They were unable to do anything to restore our services during the ongoing DDOS attack so we did an emergency migration. Tell us if you see something wrong."
