U.S. stock markets will close early at 1 p.m. ET on December 31 and banks will remain open on New Year's Eve

Wall Street will close early on New Year's Eve, with the NYSE and Nasdaq shutting at 1 p.m. ET, while the U.S. bond market will close at 2 p.m. Both markets will remain closed on January 1 for the holiday, reopening January 2. Most banks will be open New Year’s Eve but closed on New Year’s Day.
