KTM 390 Duke, 390 Enduro R, SMC R, Adventure R and Adventure X recalled for stalling issues
KTM has announced a voluntary recall for its 390 range of motorcycles. The fix will be done free of cost for the customers.
KTM has announced a voluntary recall for the KTM 390 Duke (MY 2024-2026), 390 Enduro R, SMC R, Adventure R and Adventure X (MY 2025-2026). These motorcycles are facing stalling issues at low rpms. To fix this, the brand will be updating the engine control unit (ECU) software on all affected motorcycles.
KTM says that this update should help in minimising the likelihood of engine stalling, especially at lower speeds or during deceleration, while simultaneously enhancing rideability through better low-end torque and greater engine stability.
Owners of motorcycles that are affected will be notified via letter, and they can also reach out to an authorised KTM dealer to schedule a complimentary software update. This update will be performed at no cost and solely by KTM’s authorised dealer network. Confirmation of the affected motorcycles and a comprehensive list of dealers can be found in the "Service" section of the official KTM website.
KTM says, “Extensive quality testing revealed a condition that, in rare cases, could cause the engine to stall at low rpms. While only a limited number of cases have been observed, KTM is taking decisive action to eliminate any potential risk and uphold the highest standards of performance and safety.”

Not the first KTM recall
Last month, KTM also announced a recall for the 2024 KTM 125, 250, 390, and 990 Duke models. The recall pertains to the seals of the fuel tank cap that may potentially form cracks. To address this concern, the manufacturer will replace the component on all motorcycles that are affected. The replacement process will be conducted at no cost and solely by authorised KTM dealers.
The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and KTM 390 Adventure were also recalled for a faulty electronic throttle assembly that would cause a loss of throttle response while riding. The engine of the motorcycle would begin to idle and would not respond to any throttle input. This situation could pose a significant problem if you are riding uphill or travelling at highway speeds. This is because the Vitpilen 401 and the KTM's 390 cc motorcycles share the same platform and underpinnings.
