In one of the biggest investments in private health sector, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday laid foundation stone of Kashmir Medical College and Super-Speciality Hospital being developed by Milli Trust, Delhi, on the outskirts of city.

He said the 525-crore project will provide students with 150 MBBS seats. The 100 bedded hospital will provide world-class healthcare at affordable rates and provide employment opportunities to 2,000 people.

The government is planning similar health institutions and medical colleges in Srinagar, especially for medical tourism and more MBBS seats. Hundreds of local students get enrolled in medical colleges of Bangladesh every year.

Sinha laid the foundation stone of the college and hospital at Industrial Estate Sempora, Medicity, Srinagar. “The project is one of the biggest private sector investments in health sector of UT that will improve efficiency and quality of care. It is a new era for private investments in J&K and testimony to PM Narendra Modi’s commitment to make J&K a leading investment destination for manufacturing and service sector,” Sinha said while addressing the gathering after the inauguration ceremony.
