12-yr jail to Lucknow lawyer for lodging false case under SC/ST Act

Advocate Parmanand Gupta was sentenced to 12 years in prison for filing a false FIR under the SC/ST Act, aided by an associate. Faridabad: Stalker shoots and injures Class 12 girl returning from library

A 17-year-old girl was critically injured in Faridabad after being shot by a 26-year-old man who had been stalking her. The incident occurred when the suspect confronted her near a library. Two men accused of cow slaughter arrested after encounter in Kaushambi

Two men were arrested near Bhita village for allegedly carrying beef in an auto-rickshaw. Following a police encounter, one suspect was shot in the leg and hospitalized. The police seized 50 kg of beef, a pistol, and other weapons. Both suspects face charges related to cow slaughter and attempted murder, according to officials.

Both bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy, said police.

A 65-year-old jumped from her building late Monday night, while a 62-year-old fell from her terrace early Tuesday. No suicide notes were found, and family members indicated their actions were linked to prolonged suffering from advanced-stage cancer. Police are investigating.

Uttar Pradesh’s GST collections for Oct go up
