Fresh suit seeks appointment of receiver for Gyanvapi cellar, nod for puja

A fresh civil suit has been filed in a Varanasi court, requesting the appointment of a receiver for the cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque. The suit also urges the receiver to allow the plaintiff, co-pujaris, and devotees to perform puja in the cellar. Simultaneously, an application has been filed to transfer the matter to the Varanasi district court. The next hearing is scheduled for September 26. The plaintiff's lawyers argue that the southern basement has been in the possession of the plaintiff's family for years and should not be taken over by the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee.
