NCP (SP) protest at PMC HQ over STP tender
NCP (SP) city unit president Prashant Jagtap, who along with party workers protested in front of the PMC office, said the decision was made to favour BJP office bearers at the cost taxpayers’ money.
PUNE: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Monday protested at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s headquarter for allocating the recent tender of erecting new Sewage Treatment Plants to a company reportedly with links to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
NCP (SP) city unit president Prashant Jagtap, who along with party workers protested in front of the PMC office, said the decision was made to favour BJP office bearers at the cost taxpayers’ money.
Jagtap said, “PMC approved the tender for upgradation of four old Sewage Treatment Plants and two new ones at the cost of ₹1,223 crore. This project is on Public Private Partnership. The proposal was made four months ago but the municipal administration ssat on it. After getting pressure from above, the administration approved the proposal in the standing committee meeting last week. The company which got the work is related to one of the BJP leaders.”
He further alleged that this decision would result in a loss of ₹500 crore. “This is clear loot of taxpayers’ money and our appeal is that the municipal administration must cancel the decision,” Jagtap added.
