Goa govt tables bill to raise Class 1 school entry age to 6

The Goa government has proposed a bill to raise the minimum age for Class 1 admission from five-and-a-half to six years, aligning state law with the National Education Policy 2020. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant introduced the Goa School Education Bill, 2026, which includes a one-time relaxation for 2025-26. The amendment aims to standardize educational age requirements.
