15% Tamil Nadu voters could be deleted in post-SIR list
Around 9.7 million names, or 15.2% of voters, may be removed from Tamil Nadu's electoral rolls after a special revision, the highest deletion rate among major states. Reasons include absenteeism and incomplete forms. Urban areas, particularly Chennai, face the most deletions. The final rolls will be published in February 2026 ahead of assembly elections.
