Bihar woman faints during home guard recruitment, gang-raped in ambulance
The 26-year-old female candidate had fainted during a race held as part of the home guard recruitment in Bihar’s Bodh Gaya.
A driver and a technician were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 26-year-old female candidate inside an ambulance on Thursday, while she was being taken to a hospital after fainting during a race held as part of the home guard recruitment in Bihar’s Bodh Gaya, police said.

Police have identified the accused as Vinay Kumar of Utren village in Gaya, who was reportedly driving the ambulance, and Ajit Kumar of Chandanpur village in Nalanda district.
The ambulance was parked at the recruitment venue for emergencies. The woman’s family alleged that despite only women candidates appearing for the recruitment, there was no female staff in the ambulance.
A first information report (FIR) was registered under section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) with the Bodh Gaya police station.
The woman’s statement was recorded, and she was sent for a medical examination at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, police said.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar has ordered a special team to be formed under city superintendent of police Ramanand Kumar Kaushal for further probe.
The accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage and the victim’s identification. Both were arrested within a few hours, SSP Kumar said.
“Police will complete the investigation soon and submit a charge sheet to the court with a recommendation for a speedy trial to ensure punishment for the accused,” SSP Kumar added.
